Lawmakers introduce AB2782, Health Impact Fee on Sugary Drinks

LEADING CALIFORNIA HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS URGE PASSAGE

On Tuesday, March 8, 2016 Assemblymembers Richard Bloom of Santa Monica and Jim Wood of Healdsburg introduced AB 2782, which places a 2-cent per fluid ounce health impact fee on the distribution of sugary drinks and creates a dedicated revenue source that will provide coordinated programs for nutrition education, increased physical activity in schools, more access to clean drinkable water and healthier food options in our communities, especially among our poor and communities of color.

New Study Shows a Third of CA Young Adults Have Prediabetes
